Our STARS find new ways to shine each and every day. Each week we spotlight a STAR who has stood out among her peers by using her feminine genius in a unique way!
STARS of the Week are nominated by teachers and staff who exhibit the qualities of true STARS. If you see them around, be sure to say congratulations and thank you for setting such a great example!
Senior Ellie is recognized for her high energy and positivity.
Ellie reflects that, “I started at SCA when I was a sophomore as a transfer student, and boy was that hard. But SCA is such a welcoming and safe environment that the switch was easier than I ever could have imagined. The girls and faculty are some of the most amazing and kind people I have ever met (especially Mary Bianchi!). Without them and their guidance, I wouldn’t be the kind and driven student I am today.”
Junior Lauren was nominated by the faculty for her respectful demeanor, diligent work ethic and great rapport with her follow students.
Lauren says that, “My experiences at SCA have been really great. I transferred in my sophomore year and I was welcomed with open arms. To be able to go to a school that provides me with so many opportunities and makes sure I get what I need to succeed is amazing. I feel truly blessed to have teachers, staff, and classmates who help me and care about me. I can’t see myself anywhere else and I am happy I chose St. Catherine.”
Senior, Julie was identified as being hardworking and committed to excellence, and she shows school spirit.
Julie wrote that her, “experiences these past years at SCA have been amazing. This school has been very welcoming and has such a positive environment. Since coming here, I have grown as an individual socially, academically, and especially spiritually. I would not be the person I am today had I not attended St. Catherine.”
Junior Sara for being honored as this week’s STAR of the Week! Sara has been recognized by the faculty for, “her positive attitude, as a leader in athletics, for contributing to daily Mass, and challenging herself academically.”
Sara says, “Attending SCA has helped me grow in many ways. From the teachers who have helped me when I’ve struggled, to my friends who have encouraged me to be my best, to the ability to excel in music and sports, St. Catherine has been a great move because everyone has opportunities here.”
Sophomore Alexis is honored as this week’s STAR of the Week for her positive attitude, friendliness and helpfulness to her classmates, her compassion, and her commitment to hard work.
Alexis says, “SCA is a great environment. Everyone is always willing to help you out or just be there for you if you ever need them. My faith has grown at SCA, because the school offers a sense of love and life. My favorite thing about St. Catherine is all the friendships I’ve formed. With all the sports and activities, you are able to do things you love with people you love.”
Freshman Alexis is honored as this week’s Star of the Week for being a responsible and hardworking student.
Alexis says, “The start of freshman year can be somewhat rough, but that was to be expected. What I find to be the most inviting about the school is the teachers. I love that I am able to express my beliefs in class. Not only do I get to voice my opinion, but teachers like JZ push me to be able to defend it as well. Now that I have transitioned into St. Catherine, I feel much more comfortable, and I am glad to be surrounded by such a beautiful sisterhood.”
Ninth grader Brenna was nominated by multiples teachers for being extremely helpful to her peers and doing great academically. Teachers called her “simply amazing!”
Brenna’s own reflection on her SCA experience so far is that, “I have had an amazing experience at SCA. Everyone here has been incredibly welcoming. The teachers are willing to listen to you and there are so many activities you can participate in. It means a lot to be able to receive not only an amazing education, but to also come closer to God in my faith. I am very grateful for my experience here already.”
Sophomore Emily is being recognized for her great academic integrity!
She says that she has, “…grown spiritually and emotionally at SCA, been academically challenged by the teachers to grow as a student, and supported by my SCA sisters to grow as an individual. At SCA, my relationship with the Lord has grown stronger and I have learned more about my faith. SCA is preparing me for the future ahead and the challenges I will face.” Congratulations, Emily!
She was nominated by the faculty for her contributions in and out of the classroom!
Mary says that, “SCA has helped me to grow as a person, because of the trips I have been able to take. I’ve met some of the most wonderful people and experienced so many new things. Also, the teachers who are always willing to work with me have taught me it is okay to fail and ask for help. SCA has given me so many memories and lessons I will hold onto forever.”
This senior was recognized for her hard work, academic accomplishments, dedication to the school, and positive attitude!
Namitha says of her experience that, “St. Catherine has become more than a school for me. I am able to explore many of my passions, from drama to robotics [and] healthcare to service. SCA allowed me to encounter amazing people who taught me many skills and who have shaped me into the person I am today. St. Catherine has become my second family and my sisterhood in faith.”
“An excellent community for families that want to stay involved! Everyone has a different opinion and all students, staff, and faculty are respectful of it. I have never been in an environment that was so inviting and welcoming. It is easy to find a home in this school because the staff genuinely care about you and want you to succeed. It really is a beautiful place and a great experience. I am very lucky to have gone through high school there.”
“SCA proves you can educate young women to both get into Heaven and Harvard!”
“I was among one of the very first classes SCA ever had. As a pioneer and a student to be a part of the foundation of clubs and classes that continue today, I am beyond proud of how far the school has come. There were many ups and downs during my four years but an amazing experience overall. Today at college I still look back on and cherish my times at SCA, thankful for the connections, education and sisterhood I acquired. I am looking forward to seeing many more young women carry on the traditions my class and recent classes have set for the future.”
“Another thing I enjoyed about the school was the athletics. I played four different sports at this school and I had the same experience with all of them. The coaches really cared about me, not just how well I was performing and I was treated respectfully on and off the court. Further more, I felt that I was really being pushed physically and mentally during practice which I value in any activity.”
“As a graduate of this school, I can attest to not only the strong education I received from SCA but also the strong foundation I was given in which I could build my own faith upon. I felt fully prepared for the ‘real world’ both academically and spiritually.”
“This school is not only college prep, it is life prep. I know that my daughter is being educated to go out and make a positive difference in the world. She will graduate with the confidence and courage to lead wherever she goes in life. I love the principal, the teachers, and the families. It is such a blessing to be a part of the SCA Family. I know the friends my daughter has made will be her sisters for life.”
“I LOVE this school. The teachers are excellent. Because the students are so friendly, it’s easy to fit in and make friends even if you have had a tough time at other schools. There is virtually no bullying and it is a very friendly, positive environment. Highly recommended.”
“The school lives up to their mission statement by unlocking the feminine genius in the girls who go there and providing us with the opportunity to discover who we are meant to be.”
“My family has had an excellent experience at this school so far. Beyond the beautiful new facility, I have been impressed with the teachers and the administration! They challenge the girls both academically and spiritually, they know them by name, and appear to have a genuine concern for each individual student. The school really feels like a family. As a parent, it is a blessing to me to know that my daughter is in such good hands when I drop her off everyday.”
