Enter Into Advent
An introduction and suggestions for prayer and activities from Ms. Hehs and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Many of you are familiar with the concept of an Advent Calendar and most notably the kind with a piece of chocolate behind every panel. The USCCB shares a calendar each season, with the hope that it will bring us inspiration and reflection during this Advent season. This advent calendar can help you and your family enter in to the season with daily activity and prayer suggestions to prepare you spiritually for the birth of Jesus.
Advent is the beginning of the Church’s liturgical calendar and is the season encompassing the four Sundays (and weekdays) leading up to the celebration of Christmas. Advent is a time of preparation, hope, and anticipation for the birth of the Christ Child. The last days of Advent (December 17-24) focus particularly on our preparation for the celebrations of the Nativity of our Lord at Christmas.
