Over the weekend I sat riveted to the news pouring out of the UK at the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. I may have also watched some tennis being played at the US Open. But “9/11,” although the Queen was being celebrated and a new men’s US Open Champion was crowned, will always cause me to pause to recount and replay those minutes and hours.
I have a personal story (click here to read) from that day. I know that many of you have a story from that day and the days to follow. It is our responsibility as the generation who witnessed the greatest atrocity on US soil in modern history to help this generation understand all that transpired that day, even though they are growing up in a cultural and political environment created out of the response to 9/11.
