Priesthood Sunday

September 26, 2021

The Priest is to be a source of blessing for his people.” ~ Pope Francis

The last Sunday in September is set aside as a special day to honor priesthood in the United States. Priesthood Sunday was celebrated by parishes on September 26. As parishes, we use this day to reflect on and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church. We honor priests without whom the Holy Sacraments could not be conferred, for a single day out of the 365 days of the year that our priests tirelessly serve their parishes.

Even though Priesthood Sunday is typically celebrated by parishes, St. Catherine of Siena Academy would like to celebrate and thank each of the priests who serve the SCA community, to be able to daily bless the students and staff with Holy Communion and Reconciliation.

Together we Pray, Gracious and Loving God, We thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them we experience your presence in the sacraments. Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people. Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen
