Anneke (Houbeck) Tennies
On this feast day of St. Katharine Drexel, the Catholic Foundation of Michigan is honored to celebrate the schools across the Archdiocese of Detroit, the principals and teachers that joyfully lead and serve within them, the donors and alumni that live their faith values in the community, and the multitude of families who have sacrificed and benefited from Catholic education.
St. Catherine of Siena is proud to announce Anneke Houbeck Tennies for receiving the Amazing Catholic Educator Award sponsored by the Catholic Foundation of Michigan. Mrs. Tennies was honored for being a beautiful witness of faithfulness to the Church. Her goal is to always bring the students into relationship with Jesus. Her gentleness in loving each student allows them a safe place to voice their questions and/or misunderstandings regarding Church teaching. Her classroom is alive with student work and prayerful reflections. She is a teacher who makes a difference in the lives of her students by both her teaching and her lived example.
Jesus is the one Teacher and we are his instruments. He will make up for our weaknesses and build us up to be even better.
