Empowering Sisterhood: Betsy Crapps, Theology Teacher and Founder of Mom Prom®️
At St. Catherine of Siena Academy, we are committed to fostering sisterhood and forming young women into leaders who serve with love and compassion. One of our very own teachers, Betsy Crapps, embodies this mission both in the classroom and through her incredible creation: Mom Prom®️, a national charity event that celebrates sisterhood while making a real difference in the world.
Betsy Crapps, who joined SCA last year with 27 years of teaching experience, is the founder of Mom Prom®️, a ladies' night out that has brought women together for a night of fun and charity since 2006. What began at St. Thomas a’Becket Catholic Church in Canton, Michigan, has grown into a nationwide movement, with women dressing up in old prom gowns or wedding dresses to support charities close to their hearts. It's not just about the laughter and dancing—over the years, Mom Prom®️ has raised millions of dollars for charitable causes across the country.
The connection between Mom Prom®️ and the values of sisterhood at St. Catherine of Siena Academy is undeniable. Just as our students build strong bonds through shared experiences and a commitment to service, Mom Prom®️ unites women for a common good. It's an event where women can have fun while making a meaningful impact—whether through a Tackiest Dress Contest or an Aqua Net "best hair" competition, the evening is filled with laughter and purpose.
Betsy’s humble leadership and commitment to service remind us that sisterhood extends far beyond our school walls. Her vision has inspired countless women to start their own Mom Prom®️ events in support of causes they are passionate about. The impact is real, and the invitation is open for anyone to join in this beautiful blend of fun and philanthropy.
