Why would one consider giving to a private, Catholic high school? Some of our SCA families give as a way of saying, “thank you,” for the intangible gift their daughters receive – discovering who they are as a daughter of God. Some give because they know it allows SCA to support others who cannot fully afford the cost of tuition. Some will give because it’s an opportunity to grow closer to God by practicing good stewardship and giving thanks for their abundant blessings. Almsgiving is a way of sharing in God’s work to sustain and support all his children. We encourage giving at any level, by all families, even those receiving tuition assistance, because it demonstrates to our community sponsors and generous benefactors the commitment our families have to the school.

Is the cost of education the same thing as tuition?

The cost of educating one St. Catherine student and the rate of tuition are not the same amount. Tuition only covers about 80% of the cost of a St. Catherine education. The 20% gap is covered through the money raised by the Annual Fund.

Why does St. Catherine Academy not chrage the full cost of education?

SCA wants to remain accessible to every family that would like to provide their daughter with a quality Catholic education. Charging the full cost of education would make St. Catherine Academy inaccessible to many who would choose to send their daughters to our school.

Is the tuition gap normal?

Yes! Most private schools, both secular and religious, have a tuition gap in order to keep their education accessible.

Who gives to St. Catherine of Siena Academy?

Teachers, staff, board members, present and past parents, alumnae, and community members contribute to SCA. Participation by present families is essential to gaining support from outside community members because a gift to the Annual Appeal as well as our signature events displays confidence in how the mission is being carried out.
