Emily Mahon '25 Named National Merit Semifinalist
St. Catherine of Siena Academy is pleased to announce that Emily Mahon, Class of 2025, has been named a Semifinalist in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Over 1.3 million students from more than 21,000 high schools entered the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2023 PSAT/NMSQT. The 16,000 Semifinalists—representing less than 1 percent of each state’s high school seniors and the highest scorers in each state—will now compete for approximately 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million, which will be awarded next spring.
In February, around 15,000 of these Semifinalists will be notified of their advancement to Finalist standing. All National Merit Scholarship winners will be chosen from this group. Merit Scholars are selected based on their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
We congratulate Emily on this remarkable achievement and wish her the best as she prepares for the next phase of the National Merit Scholarship Program.
