Epoch Week 2024
Experience EPOCH Week at St. Catherine of Siena Academy
March 11-14 2024
At St. Catherine of Siena Academy, we believe in providing our students with experiences that go beyond traditional classroom learning. That's why EPOCH Week holds a special place in our hearts—it's a time when our entire school community comes together to embark on a journey of experiential living and learning.
Kicking off EPOCH Week was our Lenten Mini Retreat Day. It was a day filled with spiritual reflection, small-group sessions led by our dedicated faculty, Mass, Adoration, and reconciliation. A truly beautiful start to an unforgettable week and perfect timing in our Lenten journey.
But that was just the beginning. The rest of the week was spent diving deep into community engagement, exploration, and personal growth. Our students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, including a viewing of the inspiring film "Cabrini," which shed light on the remarkable life of Saint Frances Cabrini. The film was a cinematic exploration of the feminine genius, embracing qualities like receptivity, trust, and surrender. We are grateful for the profound impact of the film and the enduring legacy of St. Frances Cabrini. She exemplified unwavering faith, establishing orphanages, schools, hospitals, and more, wherever God led her.
Service to others was also a big part of EPOCH Week. Whether it was volunteering at Forgotten Harvest, where our students packaged over 5,000 supplemental food boxes and spread joy with their dedication, or creating heartfelt cards for patients at Ascension Providence Hospital, our students truly embodied the spirit of compassion and service.
And let's not forget the cultural experiences! From tours of iconic Detroit landmarks like the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Basilica of Ste. Anne, to visits to universities like Michigan State and the University of Michigan, our students had the opportunity to expand their horizons and explore new possibilities.
Another impactful experience of EPOCH Week was the visit to Ascension Providence Southfield. Here, students delved into the world of healthcare, gaining insights into inpatient pharmacy, emergency procedures, andeven witnessing surgeries in the simulation lab. These hands-on experiences notonly sparked curiosity but also opened doors to potential career paths.
At St. Catherine of Siena Academy, we are a small school offering big advantages. EPOCH Week is just one example of how we're committed to providing our students with opportunities for growth, discovery, and transformation. It's a week that leaves a lasting impression, with memories to cherish and lessons to carry forward.
