Purple, as all colors, is full of symbolism, both for the Church and for St. Catherine of Siena Academy. The Church takes on the color purple for Lent, for repentance and solemnity. The deep dark richness of purple invites us to consider the sacrifices Jesus suffered for us. For SCA, the purple pays tribute to the accent color of the legion of Bishops who serve the Pope. Purple has always been the color of royalty since historically purple dye was the most labor-intensive color to obtain. But we are not the royalty – Jesus is.

Your generous gift to St. Catherine of Siena Academy helps secure the future of our school and its students. Each year, the funds raised during our Day of Giving and celebration event are directed toward impactful initiatives.

Some years, we raise money for the Fr. Elmer Endowment Fund, a special fund that is invested and grows year after year. Contributions to the endowment are preserved as principal, with part of the earnings directed toward the school’s operating budget each year. The Fr. Elmer Endowment is managed through Ave Maria Mutual Funds, who are dedicated to Morally Responsible Investing—showing our students how Catholic values can be integrated into all aspects of life, including financial decisions.

This year, in May 2025, we are proud to support both the Fr. Elmer Endowment Fund and the Play it Forward Capital Campaign to enhance our athletic fields, furthering our mission of excellence at St. Catherine of Siena Academy.

Each year, in addition to our Day of Giving on April 29, we celebrate with a special event to honor our patroness, St. Catherine of Siena, and her legacy. This year, we’re taking it a step further with a memorable celebration on May 3, 2025, marking Fr. Elmer’s 97th Heavenly Birthday and celebrating 15 incredible years of St. Catherine of Siena Academy.

Join us as we honor Fr. Elmer, give thanks to St. Catherine of Siena, and continue the joy of Live Purple. Give Gold.!
