Application Process

Applying Is Easy.

Star Days invite potential applicants to experience a day in the life at St. Catherine’s. Join us on campus mid-September to early May on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Placement Test

SCA administers the HSPT (high school placement test) for all current eighth grade students and applicants. Results are used for academic scholarships and placement decisions.

Admission Criteria

Acceptance to SCA is based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:

  1. Be a STAR for a Day! Schedule a shadow day!
  2. Completed application for admission

In addition, St. Catherine requests applicants take the HSPT placement test. See details below to be used for placement into classes as well as academic scholarships.

Once we’ve received your daughter’s completed application, our admissions committee will review her file and then reach out to you with details on how to officially enroll her.

High School Placement Test

SCA will be administering the high school placement test (HSPT) for all 8th graders (incoming Freshmen) to be used for academic scholarships and general placement decisions. This test will be administered several times throughout the year. Registration is required via AOD HSPT® page.

Test Dates

  • Saturday, November 22, 2025
  • Saturday, December 6, 2025
  • Saturday, January 10, 2026

Test Fee: $50

Registration Opens 9/1.

Registration will take place through the Archdiocese of Detroit HSPT® Registration Page. Please select St. Catherine of Siena Academy as the test location.

  • Accommodations testing approval requires official documentation, and a copy of the IEP, 504 Plan, or School Accommodation Plan. Accommodations are available on all test dates. Please email the documentation to our Guidance Counselor, Hutham Tankersley at htankersley@saintcatherineacademy.org
  • We cannot accept walk-ins for accommodations unless the proper forms have been emailed prior to the test date.

Test Day Details:

  • Check-in begins at 7:40. We ask that your daughter arrives by 7:45 AM to ensure timely check-in.
  • Please drop off and pick up your daughter from the main entrance (by the flag pole).
  • The doors will be closed at 7:55 AM and testing will begin promptly at 8:00 AM.
  • Pick up is at 11:05 AM.

Bring the Following:

  • At least 2 sharpened number two pencils (mechanical pencils are not permitted)
  • A bottle of water
  • A snack
  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Calculators are NOT needed or allowed
